Isa 22:25 'In that day,' says the LORD of hosts, 'the peg that is fastened in the secure place will be removed and be cut down and fall, and the burden that was on it will be cut off; for the LORD has spoken.'"
There are seasons where there can seem like an abundance of disappointment. After disappointment often comes discouragement. After that, comes a settling in of a less than desirable status quo.
Holding Spiritual ground is a battle that gets old quick sometimes and if we don't take turns in the gate and taking our places on the wall, the enemy quickly takes advantage of it. When we are pressing forward, the battle gets thick because we are taking new ground. There is only so much an individual can do, and after that we need the Body. We need to remember even, that in most cases, it was through someone else's ministry that we got saved and delivered.
It takes Teamwork, the Body working together. Sometimes when the load gets light we slack off, but when it intensifies, we often have to go beyond the call of duty. As the saying goes, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link. And when links fall down, the chain falls apart, often taking others with it.
I've seen and experienced quite a bit of disappointment lately in the Body. People are having serious personal problems, financial problems and faith problems. But too many, way too many, are stopping at the problem and camping. Too many are seeing their brother and sister in need and not doing anything to help. And too many are seeing a problem in the Body, even in ministry, and choosing to overlook it.
When these things happen, people lose heart. People lose their faith. They hurt and they suffer. After so much of this, others get disappointed and lazy and just plain quit caring, but it's at the expense of another. When the Church collectively acts on disappointment more than faith on a frequent basis, and when those who should be doing something are not, and some are accused when they are not guilty, after so long, God deals with the complacency.
When God sees His Cause is hurting, and "no one stands in the gap" then He must deal with it and will replace ministry. This is a scarey thought and scarey times when this takes place. We have even seen so much of it recently in the Body. And from the looks of things, prophetically it looks like more will take place, because God will have a clean Bride before Him and that is not in just good deeds and "looks" but in the heart and spirit of Truth in relationship.
No two people have a relationship, there is always three. Whether the other person is saved or unsaved, God is still the Third Party in every relationship. We each are responsible for how we treat the other person and accountable in our responsibilities to them. The faith for which you expect and experience your reward is tied up in that.
If you say something doesn't matter when it does, and you mean that and act on that, you have stolen from your own reward. But sometimes you have done all you know to do and the problem is not you - it's somebody else, but there is nothing you can do about it. The temptation is to give up and give in, but your heart is crying no. It is crucial at those times to make your prayer known before God. Why?
Because iniquity will not last forever and God will deal with it. I can't tell you how often I have seen one venture fail only to see another ready to take its place. I've seen this in ministry! Sometimes big ministries get off track and if they don't bring that around to correction, it should not surprise you to find another ready to take their place. There are ministers who die and are so beloved, but amazingly, another is ready and prepared to take that office.
God is at work on the scene. Whre there is prayer and true faith, God has a back up plan to keep things going and in order. Where that falls down is when people get neglectful.
Lately I have seen an abundance of disappointment. Even in my own life I have experienced negative words coming against me when it was not my heart or will to have an enemy. As I said before, the antiChrist spirit is looking for an opening, a gap in the wall, a weakness, and he will target that.
But the Lord is also looking to deal with His Church because half-hearted, lukewarm, lackadaisical, untrue "caring" Christianity is an abomination to Him! Sometimes it seems God's justice will never come to pass, but it does! For the remnant, for the faithful, He will act. He will remember their cries, their prayers and sustained faith through tribulation and He will act. But first He will pull the tent peg(s).
When that happens, not only does the enemy go scrambling but so do the complacent Body members. Sometimes God will give a few rumbles before the earthquake hits. Many times, it is a total surprise. But the Godly will see it coming. Sometimes you think you see it coming but it doesn't and most likely that is because somewhere repentance is going on. But just as Samson took comfort in shaking off his demons, one day he shook and the demons didn't go. He wist not that the Spirit had departed.
God is going to deal with the Church. No, it may not be an organization and then again, it may be. Either way, things will shake. There will be a trembling. But what can the believer do? At that point in time, nothing but wait, have patience and pray, holding on (which is what you were probably doing anyway!).
When you see a number of baby prophets all crying out the same thing, you can know they are being stirred by the Spirit. They may not have it all down perfect, they may not know order and protocol and use wisdom, but when you see a number of them declaring the faith on a subject or situation, you can know that God is dealing with it. I am not talking about a conspiracy group of prophets, either, where they are all interconnected.
But when there is a plague, as we see now of morality failure, God is going to deal with it. Some of it, we know has been building up for a long time. Sometimes it seems like it is past time, but don't fear, God has a Plan in place. All you can do is hold on and make your point and purpose known before God. It is your protection.
If you are obeying when the Spirit shakes, you will be okay, even if there is a struggle. In fact, what may scare you at first may turn out to be a big blessing! But that is only if you are loving the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and if you are walking in integrity to the best of your abilities.
But if you are slippery, it may be slippery for you when the shaking happens. But if your heart is for Him and His Ministry, if you find your value and purpose in Him and not in a bunch of sideline junk, you will be blessed, and have a great eternal reward, too!
All that glitters is not gold, as the saying goes. And neither is gold found in every pan of dirt! Is your link on the chain holding up, or do others fall and suffer because of you? Is change for the better going on in your life, even when the circumstances seem to betray you?
Psalm 55 comforts us: "[17] Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. [18] He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me. [19] God shall hear, and afflict them, even he that abideth of old. Selah. Because they have no changes, therefore they fear not God."
And without the fear of God, there is no wisdom to avoid danger. Guard against complacency in your own heart and keep your prayers and your alms going before the Lord. Just like Cornelius's alms were remembered in Acts 10, the Lord just may come and visit you! He will meet your Spiritual need. He will remember you.
There are tent pegs that fall but there is one that remains. Zechariah 10:3-5: "...For the Lord of hosts will visit His flock, The house of Judah, And will make them as His royal horse in the battle. From Him comes the Cornerstone, from Him the tent peg, from Him the battle bow, from Him every ruler together. They shall be like mighty men, who tread down their enemies in the mire of the streets in the battle. They shall fight because the Lord is with them, and the riders on horses shall be put to shame."
He is with you to deliver you!
