The Power of Rejection

by Pam Clark

Everyone has felt it at one time or another in their life. Rejection. It's a terrible negative and destructive feeling and emotion. Adults suffer with it as do children, both males and females, young and old. Sometimes we don't even realize it has happened until we feel it is too late to do anything about it. The emotion will make you turn on yourself.

When we feel good this seems like such a strange thing to do! Yet we find ourselves believing the emotion more often than even we think that we should. What is rejection? Why does it plague us, paralyze us? Webster defines is as the refusal to acknowledge, grant, accept or keep. Spiritually and emotionally we can feel it as a destructive force, something that hates our being, our presence, our existance. What an insult to God! That is totally opposite of His nature and character.

Once we define it, we can see it for what it is - a negative force against our beings, our soul - which is our mind, will and emotions. Once we see it, then we can guard against it. The enemy knows this is a powerful weapon. It will bring other emotions along with it as well. Once the strong man gets in the door, he invites his friends for the party, be it fear, anger, violence, hatred, or counter-rejection. We all like to feel special, and in God, we are ALL very special! In God, there is eternal favor. In Satan, there is only temporary favor with disastrous results.

Rejection can come from a variety of ways - from family, from other people, from circumstances, words, spirits, and from misunderstandings. When it is organized, it can manifest in prejudices and war, even nations fighting against nations, people groups against people groups of every kind and form. It is a spiritual force which is not conducive to life but rather seeks to kill, steal and to destroy. Because it is one of Satan's best weapons, he uses it tactically and skillfully and abundantly. This again is the place where knowing the truth will set you free.

Satan was rejected by God, not because God wanted to reject him, but because he first chose to reject God. A spirit of rebellion rose up in him and he wanted to do things differently from the order of God and reject God's supervision and authority and covering. Because Lucifer, now known as Satan, was in a position of authority, he had many under his authority. He was the "anointed cherub who covereth" meaning he was to offer protection and guidance to others. When he fell, this disrupted the sytem. It had to be dealt with and it was.

At the order of God there was war in Heaven and he was cast out of Heaven and fell from his high place to the earth. Because he has walked in the high places of Heaven, he can impress those who walk on the earth. His spiritual knowledge in wrongly impressive! This is why he can come as an angel of light and deceive many. It looks good and sounds good but ultimately is not good. He cannot hold to the goodness because God has rejected him His Spirit. He can give a form of it from his past knowledge, but has been stripped of his substance. He has been defeated and is now dying a slow but sure and certain death.

Because those who get saved come out of the world into God's marvelous light, they still carry the residue of past rejections because we have not received our full glorified bodies as yet. Inside of us is an incorruptible Seed, but it is growing and our defenses must come up to meet this challenge. This is the dregs of enemy coming to feed off of the dregs of our old life. If we do not feed our Spirit man, our focus can turn and we miss the glorious things that God is doing within us and through us.

There was a time in America's early history where the natural death rate was at the age of around 30. Life was hard and tough but people were pioneers. As they took over and inhabited the wild land, their strongholds grew and now life expectancy as we know it is well more than twice that! As Christ grows in His Body, we will overcome the effects of the enemy in much the same way until one day we are so full, we are caught up from death into life and we will be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye!

In Christ, or "the Anointing" as translated, there is resurrection power! One of the things that the Church needs to face and deal with is the spirit and power of rejection. As Christians, with Christ in us, we have overcome this. But sadly, too many use rejection as a natural weapon against the Body, our own Body, and we do not fight it. This counter-rejection spirit, often coming from the spirit of lies and deceit, or pride, is the subtle work of the enemy. When we are threatened, we react with this and further the works of darkness, even into our own souls and bodies. What we sow, we will reap!

Many use words or actions as weapons, but the blessing of God is not on it. Until we get a proper understanding within ourselves, we will not be able to defeat this tactic of the enemy at war with us. In Jesus, you are accepted in the Beloved. You are wanted, needed, loved and necessary. You are covered and the debt for your sins and sin nature is paid for. By faith you receive the Son of Living God and He delivers you from ALL evil. This is a great thing!

But once we receive, we must then respond. And our actions not only give evidence to the reality of our faith, but our activities can also increase it as we come more into the knowledge of God! We renew our minds by the Word of God and we change our society and the lives around us by our actions, prayers, stands and activities.

Jesus identified Satan as the Accuser of the brethren. He is so good at it that at times you will find yourself accusing yourself when you have been delivered and set free. Stop it! Be set free by the Truth!

And when you find yourself feeling low, reacting to things in a negative spirit, stop and examine yourself and find out where truth has fallen down in your streets, within you. Don't believe the lies of others or of wandering spirits, looking for a place to land. They do not belong to you!!!

Work to make the Body of Christ an accepting place. Know the enemy for who he is, one who works to defeat you and those you love, and don't join his company in agreement. Neutralize his words and activities by the words and works and truth of Christ Jesus, the Anointed One. His whole purpose on earth was to deliver you.

There is a wonderful life of living in peace and we can have that, here and now! If we sow and hurl evil words and accusations, we only join in the delay of our full deliverance. Until we can overcome these rejections, we will be a defeated person and a defeated Body. Peace knows that all is well whether the other person wants to live it or not. Peace knows that there is deliverance for the one who is an offender. Peace knows there is deliverance for the offended, which may be you! Peace knows that God is a covering even when man has failed, because His Word is powerful enough to fight any anti-Christ force against you.

Rejection will even bring out negative prophecies or focus on them. For some living in peace is so strange, that they can't even imagine it! It is up to you and it is up to me to enable people to find and live that kind of overcoming peace and wonderful life. Will you accept it for yourself? Will you offer it to others? Acceptance overcomes rejection. Whose Side are you on? Is it not the Prince of Peace? :)
